Hannah Arendt: the search for some meaning on the Jewish question

La filosofía de Hannah Arendt es una propuesta que trata de dar remedio a los males de la política apostando por la democracia esencial. En la Europa de los años treinta del pasado siglo el totalitarismo era, sin duda, el mayor mal que jamás la política pudo imaginar. En el caso de Alemania el autoritarismo trajo consigo el asesinato de miles de judíos. Arendt, ella misma judía, trata de analizar las múltiples aristas y buscar sentido en este complejo fenómeno. Su interpretación es escandalosa para la comunidad judía, problemática a todas luces desde una mirada retrospectiva para el resto del mundo.Hannah Arendt’s philosophy is a proposal that tries to offer a vision about political evils and emphasizing on the essential democracy. During the 30’s Europe suffers the hugest political evil that we ever couldn’t have imagined. Referring to Germany, authoritarianism caused the death of thousands of Jews. Arendt, Jewish herself, tries to analyze the several perspectives of this phenomenon and find out a sense on it. Her interpretation is quite shocking for the Jewish community and obviously problematic for the rest of the world

Routing design for less-than-truckload motor carriers using ant colony techniques

One of the most important challenges for Less-Than-Truck-Load carriers consists of determining how to consolidate flows of small shipments to minimize costs while maintaining a certain level of service. For any origin-destination pair, there are several strategies to consolidate flows, but the most usual ones are: peddling/collecting routes and shipping through one or more break-bulk terminals. Therefore, the target is determining a route for each origin-destination pair that minimizes the total transportation and handling cost guaranteeing a certain level of service. Exact resolution is not viable for real size problems due to the excessive computational time required. This research studies different aspects of the problem and provides a metaheuristic algorithm (based on Ant Colonies Optimization techniques) capable of solving real problems in a reasonable computational time. The viability of the approach has been proved by means of the application of the algorithm to a real Spanish case, obtaining encouraging results
